Podere Le Bèrne is one of the new generation Vino Nobile farms that has managed to get the most from the terroir of Montepulciano to produce its oil and excellent wines. It is a fairly new arrival in the sector of bottled wines as Egisto Natalini, together with his son Giuliano, was already producing wine for family use in the 1960’s. The farm’s position in the Cervognano area, one of the cru of the Vino Nobile, moreover, was an additional incentive to actively start concentrating on serious wine production.

A decisive step was taken in 1995 with the change from bulk to bottled wine, thanks to the enthusiastic contribution of young Andrea Natalini, Giuliano’s son and a land surveyor. A programme of agricultural experimentation and the refinement of the winemaking techniques was prepared in collaboration with winemaker Paolo Vagaggini.
The farm covers about 16 hectares, 10 of which are planted with vineyards on soils of Pliocene origin, with the presence of shells and stones, situated on hills rising to an altitude of 350 metri a.s.l., perfect for the production of structured red wines. The vineyard is not only planted with Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) grapes, but also the Colorino and Mammolo grapes, typical of the area. The range of wines includes the Vino Nobile vintage and Reserve and a Rosso di Montepulciano, products that come from tradition, painstaking hard work and love of the land.

A genuine product that starts out from the harvesting of the carefully chosen grapes, selected by hand, and continues with the attentive refining in the cellar.
The Vino Nobile Reserve is created with a blend of Sangiovese (90%) and Colorino (10%) grapes, picked towards the end of October-beginning of November; after a lengthy maceration on the skins, the wine is moved to wood (40% in Slovenian oak barrels and 60% in barriques), where it stays for over 3 years; this lengthy process concludes with another 8 months of aging in the bottle, before the wine can be put on the market.

Podere Le Bèrne also produces extra virgin olive oil. All the products of the farm can be tasted in the new tasting room, where is also possible to enjoy typical Tuscan snacks.
